Maternity Photographer

Happy Friday! Hopping onto the blog before the Easter rush to talk maternity photos. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Brandy and Sam several times over the years to capture their growing family. These maternity family photos were for baby number two! It was fun to have the whole family for this one because it feels like just yesterday we were doing maternity photos for that sweet Daisy- time really does fly by. If you’re searching for a maternity photographer near you, I’m currently servicing the greater Phoenix area. Including: Mesa, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Queen Creek and Chandler. This maternity session happened to be up in the Northern Arizona mountains, which was a nice change up for me. I’m always up for an adventure out of the valley as well.

Brandy and I had been on the hunt for an amazing maternity photoshoot dress and this one stopped me dead in my tracks. We rented it from Lael Collection and couldn’t get enough if it! If you keep scrolling, I’ll link all of my favorite places to rent or buy maternity dresses. I hope everyone has a relaxing Easter holiday spent with the ones you love. Deep breaths and full hearts to all <3

People often ask me how much does a maternity photographer cost?

Well, that’s always going to vary. No two photographers will have the same packaging for the same cost. My best advice is to have a budget and look around for someone that fits in your budget. Some photographers may have different prices for different packages and a little wiggle room. I always recommend reaching out to someone and asking, it can’t hurt. If you love their work and the cost is within reach, it’s worth a conversation. I also tell people to think of a maternity photographer as an investment. The scale of effort it takes to grow a child is no small feat. I always say you should document and celebrate that! Whether it’s with me, or someone else- you deserve it. So, if you’re asking yourself are professional maternity photos worth it… my answer is always yes. And that’s coming from a mom with experience. I didn’t do professional maternity photos with my first baby and I did with my second. Looking back, I wish I would have had them for both. You can find a list of my details and pricing here.

How many months pregnant should you be at maternity photos?

This can vary based on comfortability and preference. If you’ve been pregnant before, you probably have a good idea of when you would like to do them. If this is your first time being pregnant, I typically suggest between 32-37 weeks. Those last four weeks can be pretty taxing (at least they were for me) and while you definitely want to be showing, you always want to be feeling well enough to move around with me. I have found 32-37 weeks is a sweet spot for maternity photography, but again, there is wiggle room on either end
